‘Canada has said it will build two military facilities in the far north in a bid to assert its sovereignty over the contested Arctic region’, the BBC Internet recently reported. Prime Minister Stephen Harper made the announcement during a tour of Canada’s northern territories. It comes as a Danish mission prepares to sail to the North Pole to map the seabed under the ice, whereas a Russian expedition recently planted a flag on the floor of the Arctic Ocean under the North Pole, claiming exploitation rights.
Russia has become the number one predator capitalist state. Now, we can blame them, but basically they have copied this mentality from the rest of the capitalist world. They have abandoned the idea of solidarity and have embraced the Monster. This Monster is called ‘25% of the world’s oil and gas reserves’. So Canada, Denmark, Norway and the US will certainly follow.
There is black gold under the North Pole seabed. This seabed is administered by the ISA - International Seabed Authority. Any exploitation revenues from this ‘common heritage of mankind’ are to be distributed among exploiting countries and the ISA. All of a sudden this is forgotten. Capitalist Russia has taken the lead. Not to distribute the proceeds to the workers (as they used to claim), but to fill the pockets of the wealthy and powerful even more and to pay the renewed KGB to suppress the wage-slave masses. Folks, we are heading to capitalist dictatorship, all of us, unless we wake up!
‘Use it or lose it’
Canadian Prime Minister Harper said a cold-weather army training base would be set up and an existing port at a former mine would be refurbished to supply Arctic patrol vessels. These facilities will bolster Canada’s claims to disputed portions of the Arctic. “Canada’s new government understands that the first principle of Arctic sovereignty is use it or lose it”, Mr Harper said. “Today’s announcements tell the world that Canada has a real, growing, long-term presence in the Arctic”. Why is there no mention of the ISA?
Melting polar ice (due to global warming) has led to competing claims over access to Arctic resources, including the Northwest Passage, a shipping channel between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans currently blocked by ice during the winter months.
What is going on here?
First our predatory system of production creates global warming and when the melting ice opens up new resources, we immediately start waging another war to claim those as well. It is really time we come to our senses. We do not have to live in this paradigm of scarcity and war. There is abundance for everyone, if only we rebalance. We can all see that the old capitalist and socialist paradigms lead to war and destruction. We see it happen right in front of our eyes all the time. But, truly, none so blind as those who will not see.
It is time to let justice come in. Justice in the sense of a fair distribution of property. Not by stealing from the rich and giving to the poor (as the Socialists have tried in vain to do, resulting in everybody being poor and oppressed by fanatics calling themselves ‘liberators’), but by empowering every citizen to become owners of the technological tools which produce abundance for all. The property can be redistributed not by stealing it, but by enabling the poor to buy it. And then allow it to work for them just as the rich now let it work for them. It’s the post-scarcity paradigm, stupid!
We know there is a superior system. It is the synthesis of the old capitalist and socialist paradigms combining the best of the two and eliminating their errors. It is based on spiritual thinking. Our only problem is how to communicate it. We will concentrate on that problem and will certainly find the answer. In the meantime, the best we can do is refer our readers to www.cesj.org
