We can make diversity our unity. As a matter of fact, we will have to make diversity our unity. For there will be freedom of migration in the world, sooner or later.
As the BES-islands struggle mentally to come to terms with the upcoming constitutional changes, it should be observed that the transition we are going through really is something all countries will soon experience. The BESislands
are just a bit earlier than most other parts of the world.
This change will come about due to the technological advances we have made. Technology brings foreign people and problems to our doorstep, if we ourselves do not go abroad. Global warming, for instance, does not stop at the border. Neither do migrants and trade. So we might as well open up and start celebrating diversity. It’s not easy. But if we look for it, we will find unity in diversity.
